This is a collection of portraits I've done of capturing an important moment in a family for them to have and remember forever.
The Art of Irish Dancing
My interest in creating this body of work began when my son started Irish dancing lessons nearly 20 years ago. I loved the hard work and dedication I witnessed in the young dancers who all hoped to one day be a World Champion. I wanted to depict the "dailyness" of just what that perseverance looked like. I also personally aspire to be the Degas of Irish dancing.
A Day at the Beach
As my mom always sang to me, "Summertime, and the livin' is easy." Just by happenstance, so many of the commissions I've received are set on the water. I've really enjoyed painting the effects of sunlight on the skin and the reflections in the water.
An artist's job, first and foremost, is to hold a mirror up to the rest of us and show us who we are. This gallery represents some of my observations.
This is an area of study that I'm only beginning to delve in to. I am fascinated with the concept of the "sacred feminine" and the era of the goddess. Stay tuned.
Art makes its way into every thing I do: home remodels, christmas presents for friends, holidays, and collaborations.
